Turkey explosion: Ankara car bomb kills at least 32 bbbb

A car bomb has exploded in the Turkish capital Ankara, killing 32 people and wounding more than 100, the health ministry has said.
The explosion happened in Guven Park in the Kizilay district, a key transport hub and commercial area.
Several vehicles at the scene were reduced to burnt-out wrecks, including at least one bus.
Last month, a bomb attack on a military convoy in Ankara killed 28 people and wounded dozens more.
The Hurriyet newspaper said the latest blast happened at about 18:40 (16:40 GMT) and the area was evacuated in case of a second attack. Many ambulances were at the scene, it added.
No group has yet claimed the attack. However, a security official told Reuters news agency that initial findings suggested it was the work of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) or an affiliated group.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said terror groups were targeting civilians because they were losing their struggle against Turkish security forces.
He said such attacks "increase our determination to fight terrorism".

Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu told a news conference that 30 people were killed at the scene and four died later in hospital, however two of the dead are believed to be the attackers. He said 125 people were being treated at several hospitals in Ankara, of whom 19 are in a critical condition.
Interior Minister Efkan Ala said the investigation would be concluded on Monday and those behind the bombing would be named.
The ministers were speaking after an emergency security meeting called by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
Hurriyet also reported that a court in Ankara had ordered a ban on access to social media, including Facebook and Twitter, saying it was to stop people sharing images of the attack.
The BBC's Mark Lowen in Istanbul says three attacks in the Turkish capital in less than six months show the multiple security threats that Turkey now faces.
The country that was the stable corner of the Middle East and the West's crucial ally in a volatile region is now at a dangerous moment, he adds.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that the US embassy in Ankara warned its citizens on 11 March of a "potential terrorist plot" in the city.
Last month's bombing was claimed by a Kurdish militant group, the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK). It said on its website that the attack was in retaliation for the policies of President Erdogan.
Turkey, however, blamed a Syrian national who was a member of another Kurdish group.
Last October, more than 100 people were killed in a double-suicide bombing at a Kurdish peace rally in Ankara.

he tech news industry has lately been buzzing around the launch of 4-inch iPhone or iPhone SE handset. However, this does not put the flagship iPhone 7 out of the picture. This time, images purported to be of the smartphone's chassis have popped up online showing the redesigned antenna lines, new larger camera setup, and more.

The images coming via French website Nowhere Else show that the rear panel is now completely plain, without any horizontal antenna lines. However, the antenna bands are still visible at the bottom running along the edges.

As for the camera, the size of the rear camera hole as spotted is significantly larger than the current iPhone models. This also indicates that there might be an upgrade lineup up for the iPhone 7's camera, details of which are not known for now. The rear camera hole is also closer to the edge of the handset. This confirms the handset will feature a single camera unlike its larger iPhone 7 Pro variant, which is rumoured to feature a dual camera tech.

Since the bottom side is not clearly visible in the leaked images, nothing can be said about the lack or inclusion of the 3.5mm headphone jack. The report states that the chassis is slightly thinner as well as compared to current models.

Also published were images said to show the larger iPhone 7 model's dual rear camera component. However, the source of the report dates back to January and is likely showing the camera component of another smartphone.

John Kasich Declines to Say Whether Donald Trump Is Fit to Be President

Ohio Gov. John Kasich refused to say whether presidential nominee rival Donald Trump was fit to be president a day after criticizing the party's front-runner over recent violence at his rallies.

"You’re not going to get me to answer a yes-or-no question," Kasich said. "I hope he’s going to change his rhetoric and bring people together."

Kasich criticized Trump Saturday for creating a "toxic environment" that has led to violence at some of his rallies. He had previously pledged to support Trump if the New York real estate mogul were to win the nomination, but said Sunday that "nothing's 100 percent."

"Sometimes it’s really tough," Kasich added. "I hope to be able to support whoever the nominee is."

Hillary Clinton Saturday suggested that campaign rival Bernie Sanders was not involved with her fight for universal health care in the 1990s, despite video footage from the time that appears to show otherwise.

“I always get a little chuckle when I hear my opponent talking about doing it,” she said at a rally today in St. Louis, referring to universal health care. “Well, I don’t know where he was when I was trying to get health care in ’93 and ’94, standing up against the insurance companies, standing up against the drug companies.”

The remark raised eyebrows after a Sanders staffer immediately tweeted out video from 1993 of the Vermont senator standing directly behind the then-first lady during a news conference about health care. In the video, Clinton thanks Sanders for being there. “I’m grateful that congressman Sanders would join us today from Vermont,” she said.

A "once perfectly healthy and normal" 4-year-old girl "can no longer talk or walk or really see much" after suffering severe brain damage during a dentist visit gone "horribly wrong," according to her mother.

Navaeh Hall had gone to Dr. Bethaniel Jefferson's practice, "Diamond Dentistry," in Houston Jan. 7 to have a few decaying teeth treated, her mother Courissa Clark told ABC News.

But the "dental care resulted in serious harm" to Navaeh, who "suffered severe brain injury as a result," according to a temporary suspension order from the Texas Board of Dental Examiners obtained by ABC News.

Jefferson did not respond to ABC News' multiple requests for comment.

When a baby kangaroo was orphaned and taken to police officers in western Australia, one constable decided to adopt him.

The only problem Constable Mason of the Cue Police Station had was that his new family member needed a name. Western Australia Police announced its predicament last week, writing, "Orphaned joey handed to police today. Adopted by Pc Mason. We need a name."

A day later, Mason announced the joey's name in a video that has since gone viral. Young kangaroos are called joeys.

Donald Trump Ties Man Arrested at Rally to ISIS With Apparently Doctored Video

Donald Trump apparently used a doctored video to allege the suspect accused of rushing on the stage at his rally in Ohio had ties to ISIS.

Thomas Dimassimo was arrested and charged Saturday with disorderly conduct and inducing panic after the incident. He had hopped over a guardrail and was grabbed by Secret Service agents before he could reach the stage Trump was speaking from.

"Then one of my people said, wow. They found his name, and it was probably ISIS or ISIS-related. Do you believe it?" Trump told supporters at a later rally in Kansas City, Missouri.

Trump also tweeted a video appearing to show Dimassimo, 22, dragging an American flag across a sidewalk, saying he had "ties to ISIS."

The video Trump tweeted has since been removed from YouTube. It’s unclear who doctored or uploaded the video.

The footage in the video Trump tweeted appeared to be from a video Dimassimo had uploaded -- without the ISIS flag and playing different music -- to his YouTube page in April 2015. He wrote the video was taken from a protest at Wright State University supporting Eric Sheppard, a college student arrested last year for walking on the American flag.

“I thought it would ruffle some feathers, but I did not anticipate how tense the backlash would become,” Dimassimo told The Dayton Daily News last year. “If anything, all that has shown is that people in this area and people on the Internet care more about a symbolic piece of cloth, than they do a black person’s life … or, even beyond that, our Constitutional rights.”

When asked about the video Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Trump defended the posting, though he was unable to definitively say anything about Dimassimo's alleged ISIS ties.

"All I know is what's on the internet," said Trump.

Nada Bakos, a former CIA targeting officer and analyst, said the video is "clearly dubbed over."

"Overlaying Arabic music does not make a terrorist video," she said.

Bakos said she worries about Trump’s judgment, saying what’s posted on the internet isn’t always accurate.

"It's disturbing to me that Donald Trump will take things at face value," she said. "If he's [president and] reading intelligence that comes to his desk ... that's imperfect information. How is he going to discern what's true and what's not?"

Bakos said ISIS wants to make Muslims in America feel unwanted and "Trump is playing perfectly into that strategy."

"I think they [ISIS] would be the last people that want to hurt him at this point,” she added.

ABC News has found nothing tying Dimassimo to ISIS. Former White House counter-terrorism advisor Richard Clarke said it's unlikely Dimassimo would have been released from jail if he had ties to the terror group.

"If the federal government thought he was a supporter of ISIS, it is unlikely he would be allowed to walk," said Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

The Secret Service, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security have not yet responded to requests for comment on Trump's allegation.

Dimassimo was released on bail Saturday evening. It was not clear if he entered a plea or had an attorney.

ABC News was unable to find a phone number listed to Dimassimo. Calls to his parents weren't returned.

Heating, cooling a hot topic at nn Essex Tech...........

DANVERS — Learning about heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration may not be rocket science, but it sure seems that way, at least to the untrained eye.

To become an HVACR technician, you need the wiring skills of an electrician, the pipe-fitting skills of a plumber, and the fabrication skills of a sheet metal worker. You have to know about air flow, aerodynamics, physics and how refrigerant works.

Those who keep an eye on the region's workforce, however, say such skilled technicians are hard to find at a time when demand for them is soaring.

That's because construction work on Cape Ann and the North Shore slowed to a crawl during the recent recession, explained Mary Sarris, the executive director of the North Shore Workforce Investment Board in Salem.

The result, she said, was many people stopped thinking of construction as a viable trade, and many tradesmen stopped taking on apprentices.

Brian Cranney, the president of Danvers-based Cranney Companies — a heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical and maintenance outfit — said his problem is he cannot find enough trained technicians to staff his work vans. The average age of his company's technicians is 55.

To address the lack of a pipeline for skilled HVACR technicians, the state's newest vocational school — the sprawling Essex Technical High School on Route 62 in Danvers — added a career technical program when it opened in the fall of 2014.

It was one of four new career technical areas added at the $133 million school, along with plumbing, biotech and dental assisting. The school is a merger of the former Essex Agricultural and Technical High in Danvers, North Shore Tech in Middleton and vocational programs at Peabody High.

The HVACR program at Essex Tech was added based on the results of a labor market survey conducted by the workforce investment board, said Carol Sullivan, Essex Tech's career and technical education director.

"As you know, a lot of people are retiring, and they do not have apprentices going into these programs, so that is one of the reasons why it was done," Sullivan said. "There is a real need, just in the trades, you can see that everybody is graying out and you need people to fill in."

Sarris said whenever vocational technical schools want to add programs, they are required to check with their local workforce investment board to make sure there is a labor market demand for the skills they are training.

The number of jobs in this area is forecast to increase 20 percent over the next 10 years, she noted. Construction is considered a critical industry on the North Shore, and technicians in the field are well paid, though not as well as some other trades, like electricians.

The average entry wage for HVACR technicians is $42,000 a year, the median wage is $57,000, and experienced technicians can average $68,000, according to Sarris.

High demand

"The demand for people to work on residential and commercial heating and air conditioning systems is very high," said Cranney, who's also a director of Essex Tech's foundation and a supporter of the regional vocational school. He said the lack of a ready pipeline for new technicians is also due to the emphasis by many high schools on sending students to college.

Many of these students come out of college with a degree, he said, but they also graduate with a lot of student loan debt, and they are unable to get a job.

Students have to learn many different skills to become an HVACR technician, but Cranney said it takes less time to become a licensed technician than it does to become a licensed plumber or electrician.

Cranney, who would like to start working with Essex Tech students through a co-op program next year, said students who graduate Essex Tech with an HVACR major are just a year-and-a-half away from earning their license.

HVACR hot with students

The school's HVACR program has proven popular over the past two years, said Sullivan, and as it grows, it is expected it will have 15 students enrolled each year per grade, for a total of 60 students in all.

Instructor Miguel Perez said the program currently has 16 freshmen, 12 sophomores and three juniors. It's expected that next year, students will be enrolled at all four grades.

"There is a lack of people going into the trade, it's a tough trade to go into," said Perez, who has been working in the field for 40 years. Part of the reason why it's so tough is there are a lot of different skills to learn, he added. And, the work is not easy. The job can mean working long hours on hot days, Perez said.

Grant will expand program

While the state and 17 North Shore cities and towns, including those on Cape Ann, spent about $133 million to construct the school, there was not sufficient money to outfit the cavernous HVACR laboratory.

That all changed this month when the regional school district was awarded a $144,186 grant from the state 2016 Workforce Skills Capital Grant Program, money which will pay to outfit the lab with tabletop walk-in coolers, forced hot air furnaces, gas-efficient heating/cooling systems, and other equipment.

The money will also allow the school to double its capacity to train HVACR technicians.

"That's perfect," Perez said about the grant. "We need more equipment." He described much of the existing equipment for students to work with as "all banged up and donated. They are only good for parts."

Further, school officials say that with the added equipment, they do plan to offer evening HVACR courses for adults and others who may want to switch careers.
